New From Barry M

All products are available at Superdrug

Some of the first beauty products I ever owned were from Barry M, does anyone remember Dazzle Dust?

Barry M have some gorgeous new releases this winter, and I have to say, I'm so impressed with them!

As well as some pretty wintry shades to add to the classic Nail Paint collection, they have added some new nail ranges. There are some new purple and glittery shades in the Aquarium range, with metallic and holographic effects. The Silk range has also gained some darker, jewel-toned shades, perfect for this time of year.

There is also a brand new Glitterati Nail range, which is so glittery and sparkly!

In addition to their nail products, they have also released two new Showgirl mascaras, for Volume and Lengthening. I love the packaging on these, and the fat wands make for big lashes!

There are also new eye palettes, which I absolutely love. I think they look so much more expensive than they actually are! I tried out the Natural palette, the limited edition Starry Eyed, which features some gorgeous bronze and berry tones, and also the exclusive to Superdrug in Super Chic, which features some interesting brighter yet very wearable shades.

For the longest time i've longed for Barry M to have some pressed shadows, and now they have brought these to the table I am super impressed. Being the "oh-so-adventurous" person that I am with makeup, I love the more neutral shaded palette & the muted tones in the nail polish collection. Although i'm sure i'll crack open the glittery ones closer to Christmas, or maybe pass them onto Louise as she is a glitter magpie!

New Real Techniques Brushes!

I love Real Techniques brushes and had been eyeing up a few for a while now so when I saw they were buy one get the second half price I just couldn't resist! I thought I would share a few piccys with you as I haven't posted on here in what seems like forever. I bought them from Boots and the Stippling Brush was £11.99 and the Expert Face Brush was £9.99.

Over all I love them both and am now craving even more brushes from Real Techniques. I love using the Stippling Brush for cream blush and the Expert Face Brush for blending anything on the face base front. They are both brilliant buys and I would thoroughly recommend!

Thanks for Reading

Lush Haul

It's no secret that I'm a HUGE Lush fan, so couldn't resist picking up a few new bits and old favourites last time I was out shopping and I wanted to share those with you and give a few tips and pointers

Face
Tea Tree Water Toner
Tea Tree is a great blemish fighter and is naturally anti-bacterial so works well at dealing with breakouts as well as working as a toner. The spray pump is such a handy way to apply it too! I've used this before and it really helped calm down my skin, and as I'm having a few hormonal breakouts at the moment I decided to try this old favourite and see if it still worked.

Grease Lightning Spot Treatment
This is again in a useful nozzle so you can apply it directly onto blemishes. It's so tiny so you can keep it with you in your make up bag in case of emergencies! I have also used this before when my skin has had little tantrums and it's previously helped, which is why when I saw it on the shelf, I popped it into my basket.

Bath
Dreamtime Bath Melt
This is supposed to help you relax which sounds great for a bath after a busy or stressful day. With lavender and chamomile it smells lovely, and also softens your skin with cocoa butter. Perfect for before bedtime. I particularly love this one in the winter or when my skin needs a little rehydration.

Pop in the Bath Bubble Bar
These bars make such amazing bubbles! You crumble a bit off to run under the tap so you can actually use them more than once. This one has the scent of "The Olive Branch" which is one of my favourite Lush scents and smells amazing.

I also picked up a few of my favourite bath bombs..
Granny Takes a Dip Bath Bomb (relatively new)
Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb
Fizzbanger Bath Bomb
Sex Bomb Bath Bomb (Ultimate fave for night time)

Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar
This was one of my favourite massage bars back in the day. It was released as part of a valentines launch and stuck around for quite a while. I'm pretty sure it disappeared off the shelves for a while and when I saw this in the store I knew I had to grab one. Massage bars start to melt when they warm up so this is a great way to moisturise your skin after the bath. It smells like strawberries and cream too.

Ceridwen's Cauldron Bath Melt
This bath melt is great for soothing and moisturising skin, the muslin pouch means that it dissolves in the water and the larger bits are kept from floating about in the bath, but also can be picked up to apply directly onto your skin. This one is a little more pricey, but it honestly does amazing things to your skin. I love using this as a pick me up.

Body
Handy Gurugu Hand Cream
This buttery hand cream is made with a blend of nut butters making it so creamy and softening, it features orange extract too so has a fresh, natural scent to it. This is perfect for sorting out really dry hands and is great for your nails too. This was one of my go-to products years ago, and I would get through so many tubs of this. When I was in the shop I picked it up, gave it a sniff and it immediately brought back so many memories. It really is an awesome hand cream. The only downside (and the reason I probably stopped using it) is that the tub is a little bulky for your handbag, but great to keep near your sink or on your bedside table.

What are your favourite Lush staples? Things you always go back to or treat yourself to?

What's On My Holiday Beauty Shelf?

One thing that I have to be very selective of, when going on a sunny, bikini-clad holiday, is deciding which beauty items I will be taking with me. I don't know about you, but personally, 90% of my holiday just consists of bare, makeup-free skin (with SPF of course). Therefore, once you have packed what you think you will need, take out at least 1/3 of the products and you should be good to go. I tried to stay very basic, and actually didn't use all of these items at all. Obviously we all have different types of holiday, some people like to really glam up in the evenings, and if that's the case, by all means, go a bit more overboard, but personally, I think the minimal the better.

In terms of skincare, I stayed very basic, and took a RMK Balm Cleanser* (not pictured as placed "neatly" by the sink in the bathroom), Hydraluron, Murad Hydro-dynamic Eye Cream* and a Laneige water sleeping mask (which I like to use in the daytime as a normal moisturiser as it's so lovely and hydrating). I also have a teeny nivea deodorant which perfectly lasted the whole 7 days. Beats taking the full size and wasting potential extra clothing weight. I also used P20 SPF 20 for the majority of the time I was there. As I'd been in the sun a lot more this year, I wasn't planning on burning myself to a crisp, so I started off the holiday with a higher SPF and then used this for the rest of the time, giving me a lovely natural tan. I also used a Vichy 50 SPF Face Sun Protectant*

I took a fair selection of lip products (First fail). When selecting colours to wear on holiday with the potential of getting a tan, don't take pale colours or you will look very scary and a little ill. This meant I didn't get any use out of the Bourjois Colour Boost "Peach On The Beach". Instead, I mostly reached for my bright orange Topshop Lipstick in "Infrared" which I found complimented my skin tone perfectly. I wish I'd taken a red or a bright pink, as I think they would have looked good also. I took a Maybelline Baby Lips in "Hydrate", although it's important to remember that it's only good for when you aren't in the sun, as a lip balm with SPF is essential. I had a Piz Buin SPF30 which worked wonders, and I used Baby Lips at night.

Other items of makeup that I used for the evenings were a dash of Collection Lasting Perfection concealer blended out with a brush, a smidgen of Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation (when it was still suitable for my skin colour - which was only the first few days), Guerlain Bronzer in Terracota* (I used this to death - some nights I only used this with a touch of mascara), Estee Lauder Tease for a touch of blush/highlight, the new blush by Benefit in "Rockateur"* (a nice mix of bronzer and blush), Urban Decay Naked Basics palette (I thought i'd use this for eyeshadow, but I only applied basic eyeshadow once, the only colour I did use daily was the matte brown in Faint for my eyebrows), Bourjois Liquid Liner Feutre* (Used this every night) and Benefit's "They're Real" Mascara* in travel sized form (too adorable). I didn't use powder as I didn't feel as though my face needed powdering as the sun made it a little dehydrated. I also didn't use my Benefit Erase Paste as it was too light in colour and creamy for the humidity.

Other things on my beauty shelf are Oribe Dry Texturising Spray which I did use a lot as it doubles up as a dry shampoo. A teeny bottle of Tresemme Hairspray (which I didn't use very much), Some Zoeva brushes* which I wanted to give a try, as they had been sent to me a while back (I was thoroughly impressed and will review them soon) and my Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Butter Cream (STAPLE).

Do you often find you overpack for sunny holidays? What are your beauty essentials when going away?

Top 5 Friday | Face SPFS

SPFs are so important at this time of year, especially with all of this amazing weather we've been having! I always make sure to use them in the summer to make sure my face is protected from the sun to avoid any damage to my skin.

I've chosen my favourite five facial SPF products and find they are all great for different things. First up is Murad's Essential -C Sun Balm, the packaging makes it easy to apply and is small enough to take with you in case you need to reapply, and the SPF 35 is a good level of coverage. Next up is Vichy's Capital Soleil face cream which I reach for on holidays or really sunny days, the SPF 50+ gives very high protection so is perfect for when the sun is really strong.

Next is something slightly different but so useful, an SPF 30 lip balm that can be worn under lipstick and so goes well with your makeup. People tend to forget about protecting your lips but it is so important, sunburnt lips are no fun at all! Fourth is the Sisley Super Stick Solaire, which is great for sensitive skin, as some sun creams can be irritating for some skin types. This is also SPF 30 so great for protecting more delicate areas of your face, including around your eyes.

Last but not least is L'Occitane's Jenipapo Face Protecting Veil which I love taking with me if I'm going away for a few days, it's such a great size for your handbag, has SPF30 UVA and UVB protection so is a great all rounder! It smells lovely too which is an added bonus!

Top 5 Friday | Drugstore Lipsticks

Top 5 Friday | Drugstore Lipsticks

L'oreal L'Extraordinaire by Color Riche in 401 Fuschia Drama - fave.co/1mObSmn
Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in in 107 - fave.co/1qo7AjD
Bourjois Paris Colour Boost Lip Crayon in 04 Peach on the Beach - fave.co/1ni2XIJ
Topshop Lipstick in Infrared - fave.co/U5uQIK
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstic Kate Moss in 16 - fave.co/1oGPFDD

I really wanted to talk more about some of my current top 5 favourites in different makeup/beauty categories and to start off with I thought i'd do my top 5 drugstore lipsticks.I actually found this to be quite difficult. When it comes to lipsticks I definitely own more higher end brands than those from Boots or Superdrug. Why that is, i'm not sure. I guess I love the luxurious-ness of higher end lipstick packaging and it's always been my little guilty pleasure that I would save my money on. Lipstick is something I know I own way too much of. I have an entire drawer dedicated to Lipsticks.

As you can see, I have included 3 standard lipstick types, one liquid lipstick and one colour boost lip crayon. I didn't know if lip crayons should have their own category on Tuesdays or if I should include it in this post, but I figured it was one of my favourites so I popped it in here.

The liquid lipstick is a L'oreal in a beautiful fuchsia, I love these as a little alternative to an ordinary lipstick as I find they are a lot more long lasting. I also love the colour of this, although they are a little more tricky to apply, definitely not on-the-go application.

Next up are the Kate Moss for Rimmel lipsticks, by far my favourite drugstore lipstick on the shelves. I have shown one in red and one in pink as the colour range is pretty big nowadays and these two are my top picks. The red one you will have seen multiple times for over a year now on both my blog, instagram and youtube videos as i wear it ALL THE TIME. It's my staple red. I love the longevity, the consistency and the colour payoff is amazing! If you don't have a huge budget to be buying really vibrant colours and you want good quality without the high end price tag, check these out!

Next is the Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon. Although the colour isn't as dramatic as a lipstick and it's in a more shiny formula, it's still very pretty and as it's more of a balmy consistency, it leaves the lips looking really fresh and hydrated. The lasting power of this one is not as long, but it's by far the easiest to apply on the go.

Finally I have my all time favourite lipstick. My go-to for days where my face needs brightening and something that instantly lifts my mood. It's infrared from Topshop. Again Topshops lipsticks are one of my favourite picks. Not as many colour variations but still amazing! :)

What drugstore lipsticks are your favourites? Am I missing out on any good ones?

Top 5 Friday | High End Lipsticks

Top 5 Friday | High End Lipsticks

This week's "Top 5 Friday" is high end lipsticks. As you know, I'm a fan of lipstick, a huge fan in fact, and it's the one thing I really have a weakness for makeup-wise. Sometimes, a drugstore/High Street lipstick just doesn't satisfy your lipstick needs, and in that case, you may want to splurge on a fancy schmanzy one every once in a while. I purchased my first high end lipstick when I was 20 on a shopping trip with my friend, and since then I haven't really stopped (THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL)

Above are 5 of the lipsticks I love the most

First up on the left is the YSL Lipstick in "Prune Virgin". Got to admit, I think YSL are up there as my favourite lipstick company. They just tick all the right boxes! Pretty packaging, amazing staying power, super pigmented and I have never been disappointed with any that I have bought. The Prune Virgin is a matte finish which is so beautiful in the autumn/winter or if you are feeling a little more daring on an evening out and gives you a gorgeous vampy look. I own many vampy lipsticks as I started rocking a darker lip last autumn, but this is by far my favourite.
The other YSL lipstick is in the middle and this is a Rouge Volupte finish, which is a lot more moisturising and shiny on the lips. The consistency is very creamy and soft and with that you can often lose pigmentation, but OHHH no, not with these bad boys. I own a few of these but this is the colour I reach for the most as it pretty much goes with any makeup look and compliments my skin tone. It's a gorgeous pinky peach shade which is also quite neutral. The packaging on this one is AMAZING. Props to you YSL.

Next up you may spot 2 Mac lipsticks. Mac aren't as expensive as YSL, but I also don't think you get the same luxurious feel. However, they are BRILLIANT. Most girls will have a Mac lipstick as one of their staples in their collection i'm sure. I own a fair amount of Mac Lipsticks (you'll soon see when I do my makeup collection video) but these two are ones I have reached for the most over the years.
The first is "Show Orchid" which is a blue toned fuchsia and it so bright and pretty. Amazing for a night out! The other is "Russian Red" which is a matte lipstick in a dark red shade. If i'm not wearing my Rimmel Kate Moss in 107, I'll be wearing this one! Love them both.

Lastly is one from Sisley which is definitely up there in the price bracket, but again SUCH A GUILTY PLEASURE! There is something very rewarding about owning and using these lipsticks. The packaging is so beautiful, and feels weighty and precious and the shape of the lipstick is also very unique (and actually great for application). The colour is also so vibrant and goes on so smoothly you almost can't quite believe it. If you are looking to get someone something a bit more special, want to treat yourself, or need a wedding lipstick, I would totally check these out. Will almost definitely make your purse cry out but your lips will be laughing!

IMATS London 2014 Haul!

IMATS London 2014 Haul!

This year I finally managed to go to IMATS along with my best friend Jade. We got up super early and headed by train into London then after a series of tub trial and error, arrived at the Olympia Hall Kensington. The hall wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be but I suppose I'm used to hearing about the American IMATS which are obviously bigger. Nevertheless, it held many gems and bargains so here is what I got!

Nars

I picked up a gift set for £15 containing 3 Velvet Matte Lip pencils and a sharpener. I can't find it online but I was told that they were 50% off so a bit of logic tells me that they would normally retail for about £30 which is a good discount. The shades left to right in the box are Sex Machine, Damned and Marina. Once I got them home and played with them a bit I realised that they are probably best suited for Autumn/Winter as they are all quite dark and deep. I do however like the formula as they are very pigmented and feel smooth on the lips.

Crown

I had been dying to try some crown brushes as they have great reviews and are just so cheap! The stand was massive and fully stocked so I was impresses immediately with the choice. Discount wise, I am not sure how they were because some had less off than others but it seemed to me that they categorised them so most eye brushes were £3, Cheek £6-£10 and face £10-£20.

I picked up 5 brushes which caught my attention when I was looking around the stool, I needed a new brush brush as I only have one so I picked up the C405 which is a small Contour brush as seen below. I washed all the brushes once home but for some reason this one stinks! The bristles smell of a factory and won't fade, not impressed.

I wanted a new foundation brush so I picked up the C450 for £16 and I have to say I really like it.

Next I picked up two eye brushes which are dupes for the Sigma E35 brush (which I love!) and the MAC 217 which I am yet to try! Top is the C441 (E35) and below is unnamed (217). Both £3.

Lastly I picked up the IB111 Round Angle Blender which I want to use for concealer under my eyes as it is dense but small enough to fit. £3.

Brush Guard

As I travel a lot with my brushes I wanted to protect them best possible so I figured these would do the trick at £3.95 each!

Inglot

I love Inglot so when there was 30% off I got quite excited and decided to try something other than eye shadow as I don't find myself using them all that often. I was in the queue and noticed these gorgeous blushers and illuminators. All in all with the case which is actually for a face powder as they don't do duo blusher ones it came to £16 which I thought was a bargain. The shades I got were: 203 & 204.

Boots (after)

We popped into Westfields to grad some lunch and I accidentally fell into Boots! Shock, horror! However all is not lost as I didn't spend a penny, Boots Advantage card points are like Gold Dust and I have been saving them since forever so I thought I'd spend £17.50 of them on a Benefit Gimme Brown so I could stop stealing Hannahs!
